This idea cannot be understood deeply enough.

“Don’t aim at success-the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one’s dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself. Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long run-in the long run, I say!-success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think of it.”

I read this article in Spirit Magazine (Southwest Airlines’ inflight mag) on a flight from Las Vegas to Portland and made a note to watch the 10 videos it refers to once I got where I was going (which apropos of nothing was Eugene, not Portland). I almost tore out the page but decided that to deprive the next passenger of the same list would be against the spirit of the article (ha ha… pun).

Anyway, it was an article about the TED Conference held annually, usually somewhere in California, which if you don’t know is basically a really cool event where intelligent and progressive people get together and share ideas.

The article included the following list of the 10 most popular “TED Talks” of all time, based on number of views on YouTube.

I just got through watching them all and I am brimming with possibility. Seriously, I feel really good. Like somebody hypnotized me and told me I could do or be anything I want to – only I was awake the whole time.

It takes a couple of hours in combined time, and I don’t recommend trying to digest them all in one sitting. But take the time to watch all of these. Even ones you’ve seen before.

You’ll be glad you did.

I just recently returned from a wealth conference in Maui. It was a phenomenal event, hosted by a company called Wealth Masters International, where I met some of the top economic minds in the world and got a ton of great information on a variety of matters from the economy to geopolitics to medical breakthroughs to entrepreneurship. Kind of like going to a TED Conference only specifically focused on personal and financial growth.

But as great as the event was, perhaps the most powerful thing I did while in Maui was listen to the audio book of The Last Lecture, by Randy Pausch. If you haven’t read (or listened to) it it’s just something you need to do.

Anyway, on my first morning of listening to it something pretty funny happened. I shot this YouTube video to chronicle it… While watching this video is not going to change you like the book will, you may still get a good laugh out of it like I did.

This post is actually an excerpt from an email I sent out recently to members of TopTierIncome.com as well as anyone else who has been on my Internet marketing team in the last 3 years.

It contains some comments that will agitate many people, especially a small but powerful cluster of folks out there who have a strong vested interest in not disrupting the status quo around the online home business industry.

For my part here’s my commitment… I will approve ANY non-spam comment that is left on this post. If I’ve said something in error PLEASE let the world know it (just don’t attach your affiliate link within the comment or it will be auto-flagged as spam).

It has been suggested by a few members of what I half-jokingly refer to as the “Internet Illuminati” that comments on my last post were being censored, given that of the 24 comments received at last count 100% of them trended in support of my comments.

Hard to believe that the truth resonates with people, huh?

Anyway if any of this strikes your fancy and you want to take the next step of turning it into action (and profits) you can do so here (long version/sales letter) or here (quick sign-up/homepage).

So here’s the email excerpt (I’ve omitted the portions of the email that are only relevant to system members):

I am sending this email to all current TopTierIncome.com members as well as all current and previous members of my marketing team over the last 3 years.

This is mainly an update for TTI members however for the rest of my team present and past it will serve as an update as to what’s been going on and where we are headed from here.

Even for current TTI members I encourage you to read all the way to the end. The logic behind what we are doing here, and the history behind it, is important to understand for shaping your brand (and conversations) going forward.

I have had numerous inquiries over the last few weeks from people along the lines of:

“So Jeff, rumor is you’ve fixed what’s broken with the whole ‘make money on the Internet’ thing… Is that true? If so, how?”

Well it’s a more involved question than I can tackle in one email but the short answer is yes, we have assembled what I believe is the most complete system for creating that fabled “rising tide” that we hear so much talk about (but haven’t seen anywhere online for the last 2 years).

The reasons for this come down to understanding a few fundamental changes that have happened online in the last year or two and being willing to meaningfully adapt the way a marketing system works tot he new paradigms. This unfortunately is not something many marketing systems were willing to do since these companies had sunk so much money and brand equity into technology that worked in certain ways and instructional content that taught these ways.

A few examples:

Reliance on replicated sites – I discuss this more later in this email but basically while there is still some merit to an individual using a “replicated site” to promote an offer to their own list or through some privately-known alternative traffic source, as a general principle for building a marketing system that supposedly offers widespread promise the replicated site is dead.

Period.

When a quick Alexa search of the 100 largest websites on the Internet reveals 90+ sites that do not accept advertising that points to replicated site you know the Internet tide has turned against “carbon copy” style marketing and any system that makes this the core of their marketing approach is in denial.

TopTierIncome.com takes a completely different approach… one that dovetails into the next paradigm shift in online marketing:

To become a truly self-sufficient entrepreneur (and really tap into the massive ’7 figure’ promise that the Internet holds) marketers will have to learn how to create their own sales funnels. This reality has actually been known for a while but nobody wanted to really admit it due to the widely-held viewpoint that teaching “newbies” to deal with things like web hosting, website design/management, offer creation, copywriting, etc. was a recipe for having a bunch of pissed off people claiming “this is waaay more complicated than I signed up for!”

And frankly, given the resources most marketing systems are dealing with there was and is a lot of truth to that concern. Building your own sales funnel is a fairly involved process and given how much the “make money online” industry is built around promising “easy” “duplicatable” “carbon copy” methods it would have been undermining to start telling people that this is what they would need to do.

Unfortunately though for the last two years it has also been dishonest to pretend otherwise… Whether we’ve all been in willfully misleading or simply in denial is splitting hairs… the point is I’m calling BS on the whole “our members are not capable of doing the things we actually do, so let’s teach them to do things that don’t work because they make our business sound easier.”

(Anyone tried generating home business leads with social media lately? How’d that work out? Exactly. So why is every guru and system out there teaching it as a viable method for lead generation?)

*Note I’m not saying social media doesn’t have a place in an online funnel, but that place is not at the front end lead generation for affiliate or network marketing offers.

And there are a myriad of other ways that things have changed… in a perfect world I’d take a year off and write a book but with the way the Internet is going by the time the book was done we would need another book. Suffice for now to say that TopTierIncome.com not only acknowledges the ways in which the online home business industry looks nothing like it did a year or two ago but we actually have built a new approach that works (instead of sweating bullets of denial as we row upstream and wonder why conversions are down and nobody’s getting results).

We have things like:

A Traffic co-op. We work together to get better leads at better prices instead of teaching our members to go compete with each other in the marketplace and drive prices up.

A closing system. We don’t try to convince you that we’re gonna turn you into a ‘prospecting’ or ‘closing’ machine. The bottom line is that some people are cut out for phone sales and some people aren’t but rather than sell solutions promising to turn you into the next Tom Hopkins we make you an offer… we’ll close all your high-end sales for you for in exchange for 25% of the commissions. it’s a win-win, especially when you consider that you are currently giving up 100% commission on every sale you’re not making!

An easy way for people to build their own funnels. This one’s a biggie. Remember what we said above… for over a year now nobody has wanted to confront the necessity of teaching people to build their own funnels since using widely-available tools to do so (like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Squarespace, Blogspot, and other online platforms) was next to impossible. All the systems out there are built for either blogging or content sites, but there was nothing that made it easy to build the range of page and site classes needed to create an online funnel (capture pages, one-time-offer pages, exit pop ups, sales letters, shopping cart pages with upsells, hubsites, jump pages spread through a funnel, multiple domains, etc.) Until now. With the HubOpus website builder system (included with your TTI membership) all these things and more become as easy as checking boxes and clicking buttons. HubOpus is the ONLY content management system (CMS) website platform out there that is built do to the things marketers need to do, without requiring custom programming.

Training that is linear and not confusing. With the Internet changing as much as it does other systems seem to have taken the approach that to keep up they need to put out a new training each week on “What’s Working Now”. What’s ironic about this is that it’s a self-perpetuating problem that goes like this:

Current methods aren’t working (or more precisely current methods have gotten too expensive or complex to teach to beginners)

Let’s find something new we can teach

Okay found it, let’s have a training on it

Okay we just showed it to 500 marketers on a webinar

Okay the cost to do what we were doing just quadrupled because 500 people are now competing with us (and each other)

Okay the owner of whatever marketing method just banned us from their platform b/c our members flooded their support with inquiries, half of which were complaining about the wait time or price increases brought on by the recent flood of our members.

Okay find new method

Repeat cycle

Get it? it’s ridiculous. And it all stems from one main problem we alluded to earlier… the traffic sources that DO have enough capacity to accommodate thousands of marketers (like Google, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) require sophisticated, unique, standalone funnels to advertise on and are primarily interested in advertisers who can spend $10K a month or more. So new marketers are left fighting over the scraps of advertising that are still available to them, and whenever some little untapped pocket is identified that does produce steady quality leads it had best be protected or else it will be destroyed as soon as word gets out.

The only question I have is: Why do other “leaders” in this industry not see the value in facing up to the way things are???

Since myself and our team got out of denial and started dealing with things as they are we have seen exponential growth, both in team size and also in sales per team member. We have launched our own system, TopTierIncome.com, which is now seen by those in the know as the best (and perhaps only) way to make real money online for the average person getting started now.

Between the co-op, closing support, website system, and revamped training approach TopTierIncome.com now contains all the pieces needed to deliver on the much heralded “turnkey marketing system” we have all been hearing about for years. And all it took to create it was a willingness to see things as they are and challenge the status quo a bit.

Reminds me of the song by Muse called Knights of Cydonia.

The opening lyrics go:

Come ride with me
through the veins of history.
I’ll show you how God
falls asleep on the job.

And how can we win
when fools can be kings?
Don’t waste your time or
time will waste you.

Translation: The Internet marketing Gods (gurus) have been asleep on the job, appointing fools for kings (trainers) and wasting new marketers’ time learning methods that don’t work or won’t work soon.

Okay, cool. I think I’ve said my peace about all that…

So like I said, if my ideas here strike a chord and you’d like to be a part of the next wave of Internet home business success stories then come join us!

For anyone who has been affected by the latest drama between me and certain powers-that-be on the internet… I felt I had to share this email that Michael Force sent out to his team (which now includes whatever portion of my team decides to stay in PRO since they kicked me out) along with the response I wrote and decided to post here rather than send.

First let me say there are no sour grapes here. I am having, as John Jackson would say, the “best day of my life” just about every day this past week. Anyone who’s been on any of my webinars for my new system, www.toptierincome.com, know that I am in a great place… Everything happens as it should and sometimes the people around you make surprisingly poor decisions that actually make it easier to do what you need to do.

And to answer up front the question as to why post all this… Well lies run from their own shadow but the truth fears not the light of day.

So anyway, here’s Michael’s email in its entirety (with the 4 items highlighted I later discuss). Just wade through the parts where he talks about himself and get to the parts where he talks about me… that’s where it gets good!

Dear Team,

Over the last few days I have received many calls and e-mails from all of you inquiring about Jeff Lerners departure from PRO, and how his departure would affect you in regards to your new Marketing Partner’s leadership, support and coaching. In accordance with PRO’s policy and since Jeff has been on my team since he joined the PRO community 3 years ago… his team and members will now be my responsibility for which I accept with honor and humble gratitude.

I can assure you that myself, as well as my right hand Mark Hayes will be here for you in anyway we can to empower and ensure your success here at PRO. For those of you who do not know me or my history with PRO I feel it’s important to give you a little background so that you feel comfortable in knowing that I will be present and available for you as your new Marketing Partner. I have been with PRO since the beginning (just about five years now). My commitment and passion for this community and my team members is one of the reasons I have the highest duplication of any member or team, and have the largest team overall. To date I have made more sales than any other single member or team in the last 5 years, and at least half of the Marketing Partners are on my team and of course this included Jeff as well.

I will send out a separate email highlighting many more ways in which I can help you achieve your goals with weekly webinars, one-one-one coaching and training as well as many other things I do uniquely for my team, most of which is in the back office in special sections. Meanwhile visit www.MyPrivateTeamTraining.com and www.MichaelForce.com… and standby for more to come.

Now in regards to Jeff’s departure… As I mentioned above due to the overwhelming amount of inquiries I feel it’s necessary to now send out a response to each of you. I know Jeff has reached out to many of you too with many emails, calls and webinars. And also Jeff and I have talked a few times for an hour or so as well and our relationship continues to remain intact. And know my only wish is for you to have all the information and or or points of view from both sides as requested so that you can make the best decision for you and your business moving forward. Jeff Lerner was a Marketing Partner for PRO, which required that he enter into a number of agreements with the company with respect to loyalty to the PRO community – protecting YOUR interests, your confidential information, your ability to succeed.

These agreements are in place to ensure that when someone is trusted with the responsibilities inherent to the MP position, they will understand that at that level it’s not about just them anymore – it’s about everyone depending on them. Over the past few months, Jeff violated both the spirit and the letter of these agreements, primarily because he placed his own interests ahead of and above of anyone else at the company, apparently in order to enrich himself at the expense of his team and the company that has supported him for years in a variety of ways (remember, Jeff has held many different hats during his time with PRO, from member, to Loyal 9 member, to PRO Manager, to member again, to PRO Marketing Partner etc.)

When PRO discovered Jeff’s actions, he was given two options: resign, or try to work within the company. He chose to resign. PRO like any company had to protect its interests, community and membership and keep in line with it’s core principles of teamwork, synergy, integrity, and loyalty which we believe contribute to the growth of the whole rather than going solo. A rising tide raises all boats as most of us well know.

Lastly, I would like to say that I am very passionate about PRO and what we do here as a team, as individuals, and as a community. I’m proud to be surrounded by numerous individuals that are constantly striving to be on the cutting edge of this industry and remain innovative in every way, every day. I am most proud to be a part of a group of people who care so much about others, and are willing to do whatever it takes to empower and inspire others to realize the potential that lies within them. Which ever path you choose wether it’s a new journey with Jeff or to continue on this journey with PRO, in the end I wish you much success and happiness always.

Let me know if or how I can help in anyway. Take care…

Then… here’s my response:

Re: Your Email To Your Team (And What Remains Of Mine)

Yo Force,

Not gonna take issue at all with the idea of you sending an email to your team to facilitate this transition.

However I do ask that if you’re going to get into the business of sharing details with people (which don’t really matter anyway and are gratuitous to share in the first place) that you at least get the story straight regarding 4 particular statements.

1. “In order to enrich himself at the expense of his team…”

Now now Force, we both know that’s not true (you in particular since you have been receiving healthy residuals on several levels of my team’s sales). Enriching ourselves at the expense of our teams would be to continue to insist that our team should just “hang in there” with the abysmal conversions we’d been getting with the system funnel for the last year, and the continued insistence on teaching people to market replicated funnels (which Google, Facebook, and every other major traffic portal have banned).

My silo was doing the most business of any silo in PRO for the last 4 months, thanks to the system I built, yet my personal income was lower than ever. We both know I made a lot more money when I was paying off $300,000 in debt and solely focused on making money for myself. I could easily have been consuming the majority of the traffic I was generating but was instead rotating it out to the team through the co-op, one among many reasons why my team was blowing the other teams out of the water in terms of consistent sales spread among more than just a few people.

And for the record I used to preach to you guys on calls about how with the new MP Outsource Option we should be focusing on providing traffic to our teams more than to ourselves. The fact that this suggestion was laughed at is reflected in the fact that most of the MPs earn more commissions by themselves than the entirety of their teams put together (which number hundreds of people in some cases). Seriously go look at the numbers and if anything I’m saying is off please correct me (I admit I can’t go look up the exact figures since they shut my account down).

Tell me that you and the other MPs don’t earn more in most months than your entire teams put together. How big is your team again???

Ponder this: My funnel represented about 6% of the total members in the PRO community yet was doing almost 20% of the company’s business (even after you subtracted out my personal sales). I’m also the only MP who consistently represented less than 25% of the total production of his team. That means my average team member was doing over 3 times as much business as the average PRO member and I was the lowest percentage of total team production of any MP. Both these statistics are anomalous in a good way when compared against the other MPs and indicate that my system was doing exactly what it was designed to do… take care of my team in a way that no other MP did.

Dealing in actual numbers is a bitch, huh?

2. “Jeff Lerner was a Marketing Partner for PRO, which required that he enter into a number of agreements with the company with respect to loyalty to the PRO community”

Show me a signed Marketing Partner Charter with any of our signatures on it. Last I checked we were all still waiting to see the final versions of it (7 months after we all met at the James Hotel and created the Marketing Partner program) which puts it right in line behind the new BlackBOOK funnels as possibly the slowest development on any project ever. I didn’t sign mine, did you sign yours?

3. “When PRO discovered Jeff’s actions…”

I spent two hours showing Jay everything I was doing and fully disclosed my intention to charge people to use my system to continue to sell PRO memberships. I wasn’t doing anything in secret… I went to PRO in full transparency as soon as it was ready to show. i spent two hours the day before the MME walking Jay, Jay, and Alan through my system’s back office, and showing them the other product lines it was integrated with. I also fully disclosed that I had spent a considerable sum developing my system (to make up for what I perceived as the deficiencies in the PRO system) and wanted to charge for it for two reasons: 1. To recoup and cover development and management expenses, and 2. On the principle that people should not be paying for two systems when the majority of their results were coming from one of them. Your email strongly implies that I was working in secret, which I suspect reflects more your personal feelings about not being included than any actual secrecy on my part in regards to PRO.

Think about it… I built my system to sell the PRO line of memberships. How exactly was I going to pull that off in secret considering I was going to need PRO’s technical cooperation to make it work?

4. “He chose to resign…”

Now that’s a doozie… I had my marketing sites and back office access shut off because I would not give PRO administrative access (including permission to have their compliance department edit my content). Are you gonna give them editorial access to your team training site anytime soon? Let me reiterate this… they shut off not only my back office but the entire system through which I was generating traffic for over 50 of my team members. I’ll assume for now that you flippantly used the word resign when in fact you meant “was terminated”. If I am mistaken and you actually meant to imply that I resigned then well, I resign myself to being lied about

Force we go way back and we have no problems. But please be careful how you paint this to the outside world. I know you are fiercely loyal to these guys and you have kind of a club with them but frankly I’ve put more money directly in your pocket than any of them have…

If you’re gonna have a Kool Aid party and then go send an email please keep my name out of it next time.

Thanks bro,

Jeff

There’s honestly a gazillion more things I could say about this but this pretty much says what needs to be said. Anyone who wants to argue a different version of events feel free to but don’t expect much response from me. After being terminated with no notice I have had a hectic of a week getting my new system launched ahead of schedule (www.toptierincome.com) and continuing to do the things we were doing to get the best results in the company with our old product line (and finding a replacement product line too). There is lots more to be done leaving me little time to participate in the fray.

As for looking backwards… I admit I do, with a mix of gratitude and sadness. I learned a lot about business from my experiences in the last 3 years, and I’ve learned a lot about people from my experiences in the last 3 weeks. The point of “incubating entrepreneurs” isn’t to have them stay in the same place. People who build better mousetraps deserve to catch more mice and anyone who feels otherwise needs to reevaluate their definition of entrepreneurship.

And finally, about this whole “rising tide raises all boats” angle everyone keeps talking about. I’m calling bullshit – not on the idea itself but on the idea that it has anything to do with us. First of all when it comes to Internet entrepreneurship most of the boats have holes in them for purposes of the metaphor. And for all it’s rhetoric the PRO Marketing Partner program hasn’t done squat to change that. The ocean of results continues to be dominated by a few massive vessels with the rest being tossed around on the waves.

Frankly the only exception to this is on my team, a reality that apparently others are not too keen to acknowledge. A big part of the reason my system has been met with such unexpected hostility is that the results it produces put in stark contrast the lack of results other systems produce.

That plus a little bit of “Not Invented Here” syndrome.

Whatever the case, I am right where I am meant to be. I am proud to say that TopTierIncome.com is the only system on the Internet that can offer a “First Year Profit Guarantee”. And that’s not some BS guarantee that’s not inclusive of outside costs like products and advertising (wink wink). This is an “all-in” guarantee, meaning take whatever you spend on the system plus products plus advertising and at the end of a year your revenue will be greater than that… or I’ll refund all your membership payments for the whole year.

So to all involved… consider this entrepreneur “fully incubated”. For anyone that wants to know more about how the heck this system works visit www.toptierincome.com. Feel free to nose around and post any feedback here.

Unlike some I am wide open to better ideas.

Cheers

It Happened Like This…

2 days a week I host an “Applicant Overview” webinar on behalf of myself and anyone else on my marketing team who has applicants looking at joining our business.

It’s a little early in the morning right now for me to delve into the details of funnels, filters, and follow up (the “3 F’s” of an Internet marketing business) so let’s just say that the Applicant Overview webinar is when people who have passed the first filter get to spend some time in a live environment with me and really see not just what we do but how we do it.

So on one of my recent Applicant Overview webinars I had a guy who was peppering me with comments throughout the presentation through the webinar control panel. Fortunately I close the control panel during the presentation so I didn’t see them as they came in (which would have been distracting) but when I went to end the webinar there they were, laying in wait like graffiti. A litany of comments the gist of which were that I must be dreaming if I thought that this guy was going to invest one red cent into getting involved in our business.

Now bear in mind, I am very proud of what our team does and I make some pretty bold statements on the webinar about things like “creating the best team experience in the entire home business profession” and challenging any other home business leader to produce statistics that rival ours in 2 essential metrics (Earnings Per Member [EPM] and Speed Of Earnings [SOE]).

So I don’t take criticism lightly

If there’s something to it I’m very interested (trust me I know I’m far from perfect), but if it’s just negativity being spewed I will take steps to shut it out of my personal space.

So after the webinar I shot a note to Jackee, our team Business Development Director, that even if this guy did decide to move forward that I was not interested in working with him and to prepare in advance to just refund him his investment and wish him well.

And I cc’d the guy to try to head it off at the pass just in case.

It wasn’t a rude email, just matter of factly stating that by his comments on the webinar he had removed himself from consideration for being a part of the team.

And that was to be it. I definitely had no intention of writing a post to “vent” about it or any such other thing. After 3 years of online marketing I have learned not to take things too personally.

Then This Happened

But this morning I woke up to an email from the guy that changed my plan (or lack of) – not in that it pissed me off or anything, but that rather the guy who wrote it had, without knowing it, communicated a valuable lesson that we can all benefit from. His email also provides some useful training in “Answering Objections” for those of us in the business.

So for these reasons I resolved to write this post first thing once I got in the office this morning.

In his email he made a couple key points:

It isn’t what he is looking for. He doesn’t have $295 to “invest” (his quote marks) and definitely not $395.
(The investment is normally $395 but I gave a promo code on the webinar knocking it down to $295)

He was told that our business was “definitely not MLM” (his quote marks) but during the webinar I alluded to being the ‘Marketing Partner’ for a team of many levels, all of whom I work with equally through the ‘Marketing Partner Outsource Option’. Therefore our business IS multi-level and “that says it all right there”.

Back in 2009 he “went through all this” with another marketer in our same business who was “unable to convert” him.

Disagreement Is Usually About Misunderstanding

The response to the 2nd point is pretty straightforward and clarifies some specifics about our business. I’ll touch on it briefly and then share the larger lesson (which hopefully you are already seeing).

We tell people all the time that our business is not “traditional MLM” or “old school MLM”. Sometimes we’ll refer to ourselves as “Top Tier Direct Sales” or “GPT (Get Paid Today)” in contrast to MLM as most people know it (Amway, Herbalife, Monavie, Xango, Prepaid Legal, Usana, World Ventures, Melaleuca, Mary Kay, etc etc etc.)

The fact that something has levels is not what is being referred to… Most sales organizations from autos to insurance to franchises have levels and different people at different levels will typically bonus off the production beneath them. What is being referred to is the myth that by selling low ticket products that pay small commissions you are ever likely to build up a large enough business to create a full time income because to do so usually requires an advertising budget which the small commissions don’t allow you to pay for anytime soon.

We are also referring to the uninteresting and unproductive marketing methods that most home business companies teach of “making a list” and calling your friends and family.

So perhaps he misunderstood what we meant by “not MLM”, but that’s easy to clear up.

But the larger lesson is sooo good.

Do You See It Yet?

Notice his first and third points… He doesn’t have $295 to invest and back in 2009 he “went through all this” but was “unable to [be] convert[ed]“.

I’m actually a bit shocked he didn’t catch himself and what he was saying.

Over 2 years after saying “no” to our business he still can’t afford a $395 product, even with $100 knocked off.

You know what I was doing back in 2009?

Getting started in my first few months in this business (my 1st full month was December 2008).

You know what the guy who “tried to convert him” was doing back in 2009? I do – he’s become a good friend of mine over the last 3 years.

He was just getting started too (he joined only a few months before me).

So there are 3 people in the story who all had the opportunity to get this business going in 2009… Me (who was facing bankruptcy a few month prior), the guy who tried to “convert him” back in 2009 (who was living in his Mom’s basement a few month’s prior), and the guy on the webinar.

Of the 3, 2 of us were “converted” in 2009.

And we have both earned over 7 figures since being “converted” without ever using any of the traditional MLM methods and are well regarded internationally as speakers, trainers, and marketers. One of us lives on 7 mile beach in the Cayman Islands, and the other lives on a mountainside golf course in Utah. We also have skills that make having a job unnecessary for the rest of our lives, even if somehow our present incomes were taken away and we had to start over.

And the third one of us, the unconvertable one, can’t swing $295.

So Next Time…

…somebody says (as I do at the end of every webinar) that the number one trait of successful entrepreneurs is the ability to take action, remember this story.

My good friend JJ puts it another way when discussing people who seem hellbent on proving their point on why doing x, y, or z thing is “not right for them”… “You go be right, I’ll go get busy.”

Both my coach and my therapist (yes I proudly seek counsel with both a business coach and a personal coach or what some call therapy) put it roughly this way…

People put off making decisions because they want to make the “right” decision. So nothing ever changes. Just make the decision and then go make it right.

And that’s what I pay them for… to give me understanding even when other people seem impossible to understand.
